On 13. March 2019 Shabka’s Director Lukas Wank met with the RAND Corporations Vice President Charles Ries in Washington D.C. to discuss the history of RAND and its research efforts as well as the US Think Tank scene.
RAND Corporation is an American nonprofit global policy think tank created in 1948 and now has approximately 1,850 employees. Having had tremendous impact for more than 70 years now, the exchange with RAND was a great opportunity for Shabka to learn from a research institution with public scope. At the same time it was an important and timely insight into the makings of on of the world’s leading Think Tanks and the challenges it faces in a dynamic international setting.
The meeting was made possible by the Marshall Memorial Fellowship of the German Marshall Fund of the United States.
