On November 14th members of Shabka participated at the Austrian federal conference on “Global Education – Potentials and perspecitves” in Vienna. At the center of the discussion has been the topic of “Economic Crisis and future education”. The speakers at the conference acknowledged the tendency of the “Economisation of Education”, something Ernst Wagenhofer also brilliantly pointet out in his documentary Alphabet. The one-way perception of education as a ressource respectively as an investment is the expression of a neoliberal “paradigma of output” – something which is hardly compatible with an understanding of education as self-determination.
